Syllabus
This course covers the practical skills and underpinning knowledge required for the Close Protection Operative working within the close protection environment and includes a Level 2 Certificate in Conflict Management.
We will cover:
- The legislation that is relevant to the close protection industry
- The roles and responsibilities of the close protection operative
- The importance of threat assessment and risk management
- Venue security operations
- How to design and demonstrate operational planning
- The importance of interpersonal skills
- The importance of teamwork
- The importance of reconnaissance
- How to conduct close protection foot drills
- The importance of planning and selecting routes
- Vehicle movement tactics and operations
- Search techniques and procedures for close protection operations
Specialist Training:
In addition to the modules listed above the course also includes the following specialist training modules:
Surveillance Techniques – Basic surveillance is a requirement of SIA licensing however, we will give you the opportunity to carry out surveillance operations including foot and mobile surveillance skills, counter surveillance and protective surveillance
Conflict Management Techniques – again, basic conflict management is a requirement of SIA licensing, however we will include; Assessing & reducing risks, avoiding & diffusing conflict and post incident support and learning. You will be awarded a Level 2 Certificate in Conflict Management.
Please Note
A current First Aid at Work Certificate is a mandatory requirement when applying for a Security Industry Authority CP licence. We offer this course as an option as part of our CP Course. Additionally, our medical training staff will deliver a further one day’s training in Paediatrics, Oxygen, Defibrillation and Practical CP-based scenarios. This will complement the Close Protection training and will be the perfect preparation for your entry into the competitive and exciting world of Close Protection.

Our First Aid at Work course is fully approved by the Health and Safety Executive (HSE), in accordance with the Health and Safety (First Aid) Regulations 1981.
Qualification
Students are independently examined on the final afternoon of the course. Upon successful completion, certification is valid for three years.
Once qualified, holders of this First Aid at Work certificate can be used as First Aiders in the workplace in accordance with the Health and Safety at Work Act 1974. This course can be adapted to suit a particular audience, for example, clerical or engineering staff.

This Emergency First Aid Course can be adapted to suit a particular audience and is ideal for people requiring Appointed Person status, in accordance with the Health and Safety (First Aid) Regulations.
Qualification
Certification is dependent on successful continuous assessment of the student, there is no formal final examination. Those students who complete the course and are deemed to have reached the required standard are issued with a certificate that is valid for a period of three years.
